Riomaggiore
The first destination is Riomaggiore, which got mentioned
for the first time in the XIII century, when the village
in front of the sea was built from the inhabitants living
on the ridges. It consists of the typical stair-structures
of villages built near to banks of torrents. The older houses
incorporate 3-4 floors with two rooms per floor.

These
houses are attached one to another in parallel ranks. In the
high part of the village there is the parish church of S.
Giovanni Baptist, built in 1340. To notice the round arcs
that divide the inside into three naves, the linear crucifix
of Maragliano and a preaching of Baptist attributed to Fiasella.

Like the other villages Riomaggiore is surrounded by wine
trees, Mediterranean bush, pinewoods and oak groves.
