Vernazza
Vernazza
is the only natural port of the Cinque Terre, and this is
the main reason for its period of prosperity during the
Genoan domination. This period is proofed by the houses
that in addition to the normal tower structure have more
elaborated architectural forms, like galleries, decorated
portals and arcades.

On
the main square, that remembers the well-known little square
of Portofino, is constructed the church with the 40 meters
octagonal bell tower. Considerable are the fortifications
created to defend the city against the Saracens pirate incursions
that we can see along the little and steep streets that go
to the high part of the village.
